Portrait #MadeInEICAR :
Alexandre Zacsongo Joseph
Actor

After having multiplied his filming experiences at EICAR and made his first steps on the stage of the Théâtre du Gymnase, Alexandre Zacsongo Joseph has just entered the prestigious Conservatoire National d’Art Dramatique! Having just graduated from the Acting course, he looks back on his years spent in the EICAR studios, his encounters and his experiences.

I started dancing as a child and in high school, the theatre option was a real revelation for me. After high school, I wanted to follow a training course that would allow me to continue my learning and improve in these two disciplines.

I quickly realised that the Acting course was exactly what I was looking for. It even went beyond my expectations, offering work on other aspects of stage and film acting.

I have never had a clear career plan, except to do theatre and film. For the moment I am lucky because I have had the opportunity to make my project a reality, in particular by acting in the short films of the students of the film and television production course, as well as by performing at the Théâtre du Gymnase.

During my 3 years at EICAR, I learned a lot about acting. All the courses and workshops I took were important to me, but if I had to choose my favourite, I would think of the diction and spoken voice course.

In the third year, with the idea of preparing for after EICAR, I wanted to take the entrance exams to the Conservatoire. I found precious help in my preparation with Mickäel Pernet, a former Acting student and drama teacher. He himself went to the Conservatoire in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, and at first he advised me on roles and on plays to read. Then, in the school’s studios, we worked on my technique so that I would be impeccable in terms of diction, space management, etc. And finally, we worked a lot on my personality. And finally we worked a lot on my interpretation: what I wanted to tell through these scenes, where I wanted to take the audience, in short, what I wanted to convey.

In the end, the competitions went well. Obviously there was some stress but the jury was very cool so I quickly felt at ease and gave my best. I have just entered the first year of the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique, and I intend to take full advantage of what this experience will bring me.

I am still very much in touch with the students in my class. Having spent 3 years with the same people, you become more than just classmates after a while. Alongside my studies, I have a few short film projects coming up that will be announced on my Instagram account. I hope to be able to see them on set or on stage soon!

For me, what worked during my Bachelor Acting was to work hard, have fun and keep confidence in myself and my acting partners! This is what I would recommend to all new students who join EICAR.
