ON WEDNESDAY, STUDENTS FROM THE EICAR INTERNATIONAL DEPARTMENT GATHERED IN THE SCHOOL’S SCREENING ROOM TO DISCOVER AND AWARD DOCUMENTARIES AND EXPERIMENTAL FILMS AT THE 2ND EDITION OF THE NAKED EYE FILM FESTIVAL.

Initiated last year by professors Daniel Meyers and Chantal Perrin, the Naked Eye Film Festival is dedicated to non-fiction films. 14 films directed by last year’s students from BFA1MFA1 and OYFP programs were screened in front of professors and students. For this event, the Internation Department had also the pleasure to welcome the 3 jury members from the documentary film industry:

  • Isabelle Simeoni, Documentary film Writer and Producer
  • Emmanuel Barnault, Documentary film Writer and Director
  • Fabien Caux-Lahalle, Director and Producer

While the jury was deliberating, the audience discovered Director Adriano Valerio’s last short film Mon Amour Mon Ami, recently selected at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. Adriano Valerio who graduated from EICAR and currently teaches at the International Department, was present to tell the origin of his half-fiction half-documentary film, and answer to students and professors’ questions.

The night ended with the announcement of the three award winners:

  • Special Mention: Apartment by Junyi Zhu (BFA1)
  • Jury’s Choice: Lunch Is Ready by Samantha White (BFA1)
  • Student’s Choice: Connected To Somebody by Elizaveta Luzina (MFA1)

Congratulations to the winners!
