RUDI ROSENBERG’S FIRST FEATURE FILM LE NOUVEAU WILL BE RELEASED IN DECEMBER, 23RD 2015.
Rudi Rosenberg began his career as an actor. He continued his studies in EICAR’s French department as a Directing major and graduated in 2007. During his studies, he wrote and directed the short films 13 ans (Thirteen), and later Aglaée. Both of his shorts, as well as his feature film Le Nouveau, treat the subject of adolescence.
Nine years later, Rudi Rosenberg did not forget his alma mater and kindly accepted to premiere his film for EICAR students followed by a Q & A where he generously shared his professional experiences and the shooting of Le Nouveau.

For the young director, one of the major challenges was to find teenagers who could portray his characters. Rosenberg did not want to cast professional actors who were familiar with the film set. As a result, he auditioned over 5,000 junior high school students in France, Belgium and Sweden.
This movie was inspired by Rudi’s own experiences but also by his friends’. “I wanted to shoot a teen movie that would not show the usual stereotypes, and tell a story both personal and universal at the same time. […] I know what it is like to be the “new guy”in the class and I experienced difficulties integrating in junior high because I was very shy. Everybody has experienced what it was like to be the new guy.”

Rudi Rosenberg’s film premiered to the public in May, was selected in a dozen French and international film festivals and has already received several awards such as New Director Kutxabank Award in San Sebastian Film Festival (Spain) and the Audience Award for Fiction Feature Film at the Francophone Film Festival in Namur (Belgium). “Presenting your work in festivals is a key element to making yourself known to the film industry!” he insisted.
We wish Rudi Rosenberg all the success he deserves!
