Portrait #MadeInEICAR :
Ludivine Genadinos
Actress

The young actress Ludivine Genadinos recently starred in the first series broadcast on TikTok in France, directed by Abd Al Malik. She talks about this fabulous adventure!

After 10 years spent in Ukraine and her baccalaureate in hand, Ludivine Genadinos returned to France, determined to study to become an actress. “I’ve been doing theatre since I was very young, so it was obvious that I would go into this profession after the baccalaureate. I did some research on acting courses in Paris and I came across the EICAR website. I really liked the Acting course: it seemed very complete! So she took the entrance exam and joined the French language Acting Bachelor’s programme in September 2017.

During her first three years at EICAR, Ludivine Genadinos continued to train in the techniques of acting, diction and improvisation, while discovering new disciplines: singing, dancing, acting in front of the camera, dubbing, etc. With her fellow students, she prepared for shows and other exams. “We played Shakespeare, Molière, we approached Feydeau and Guitry. We also transcribed Lars von Trier’s film Dogville, which we performed at the end of the second year. Playing for two hours in a row, interpreting three characters on stage, was a very nice experience, quite unique and unusual. It was very enriching”.

The Cités adventure: from casting on TikTok to meeting Abd Al Malik

At the end of her third year, Ludivine Genadinos was one of the students selected to join the fourth year of Acting. While the course was in full swing, the student learned that a casting call for a new series had been launched on the social network TikTok. “I didn’t really know what I was getting into but I wanted to learn more.

A few days after her application, she was selected to take part in the new series imagined by the rapper, composer and director Abd Al Malik. Entitled Cités and produced by Amazon, this series is the first of its kind since it is broadcast on the social network TikTok. Through fast-paced and incisive episodes, this series follows the search for identity and brotherhood of a group of teenagers, driven by creativity and passion. Among the seven friends, Ludivine Genadinos plays Pauline’s friend under her own name.

The young actress has fond memories of the filming of Cités! “I had two crazy days! Working with Abd Al Malik was a great experience, I had never met him and I found him quite impressive at first. But he turned out to be absolutely calm and kind. He was constantly listening to his actors and his technical team. He knew how to find the right words to advise and guide us and he was able to share his passion for art and culture with us.

Ludivine also remembers the meetings and exchanges with the other young people cast for the project, who came from very different backgrounds. “We all got on very well, as if we had known each other for years. We all got on very well, as if we had known each other for years. We talked a lot and got to know each other, which made it easier for us to act during the shoot. I met Pauline, for example, who was a lovely girl. She had never had any acting experience and was playing my friend in the show. I helped her and passed on techniques I’d learned at EICAR to make her feel safe on set.

A true ode to the arts and culture in all its forms, the series Cités has the characters evolve in emblematic places. “On the second day, we shot on the Place de la République and next to the Eiffel Tower. The landscapes were dreamy! I was the happiest”, adds Ludivine Genadinos.

Although this short aside will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of her career, it has not distracted the young actress from the projects that await her with her fellow students at EICAR. Together they form the troupe Les Distillés and are preparing several shows for the end of the year. “Currently, we are putting on three plays with three different directors: Caligula with Mickaël Pernet, Victor et les enfants au pouvoir with Morgan Perez, and Cendrillon with Brice Lefort. And we’re still looking forward to being able to play in the theatre soon!

And despite the rather vague prospects, linked to the health crisis, Ludivine Genadinos is preparing the post-EICAR period. In particular, she plans to join one of the Conservatoires Nationaux Supérieurs d’Art Dramatique and is currently taking the entrance exams. Not forgetting castings and future filming. “Perseverance is what keeps us going”, she concludes.

While waiting to see her on stage with her fellow Acting students, watch Ludivine Genadinos in the series Cités, available on the Amazo TikTok account
