WHILE HIS FIRST FEATURE FILM BANAT – IL VIAGGIO CONTINUES TO MAKE ITS MARK ON THE FESTIVAL CIRCUIT, FORMER STUDENT AND PROFESSOR ADRIANO VALERIO RECENTLY RECEIVED SPECIAL MENTION FOR A SHORT FILM HE CO-DIRECTED WITH THE FRENCH ARTIST EVA JOSPIN.

Venice, Italy – The 73rd edition of the Venice International Film Festival at the beginning of September was marked by the launch of a new film selection called I Love GAI – Giovani Autori Italiani.

The competition is a collaborative initiative of the SIAE – the Italian Author and EditorSociety – and the publishing house and communication company specialized in Contemporary Art, Lightbox. This film competition is dedicated to authors and directors under-forty in order to promote their works by fostering contact with producers and spectators.

For this first edition, the jury composed of the Czech Artistic Director Karel Och, the Italian Scenographer and Costume Designer Beatrice Bulgari and Riccardo Chiattelli, Head of Content & Communication at the Italian channel EFFE TV, awarded among 17 audiovisual works in competition, the short film Food for Thought directed by Davide Gentile.

“For the courageous idea to narrate the magical suspension of childhood expanded time”Agosto received the Jury Special Mention. The short film is the first collaborative work between Adriano Valerio and Eva Jospin. It is about two children and their adventures in the countryside during a very hot month of August spent in Northern Italy.

After studying Law in Milan and Cinema with Marco Bellocchio, Adriano Valerio moved to Paris to enter EICAR’s BFA program.
His short films have been selected and awarded in more than one hundred international festivals, including Cannes Official Competition 2013, where he received a Special Mention for 37.4 S (also awarded the David di Donatello prize and Special Award at Nastri d’Argento in 2014). Banat – The Journey, his first feature film, has been selected for the Venice Film Festival International Critics Week 2015.

Eva Jospin was born in 1975 in Paris. She studied Architecture and Fine Arts at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Art de Paris en 2002. Her work evolved from painting and drawing to sculpture and she now uses cardboard to create monumental bas-relief forests. She has exhibited extensively in France (at Palais de Tokyo, Manufacture des Gobelins, Fondation EDF, Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature, Domaine de Chaumont, La Friche à Marseille) and abroad (Rome, Naples, Venise, Milan, Bologne, Dubai).
