Cinema Without Borders: EICAR Welcomes Professionals Working Across Cultures

EICAR welcomed “Cinema Without Borders: From Cultural Exchange to International Careers” to its Paris campus, bringing students together with professionals who support films and creative collaborations across countries. The event gave attendees, including students from the international programme, an opportunity to explore the connections between cultural exchange and careers in cinema.

Connecting Students with Cultural Institutions
Moderated by Anna Zasada, coordinator of FICEP, the Forum of Foreign Cultural Institutes in Paris, the discussion featured Egle Cepaite, Cultural Affairs Officer at the Embassy of Lithuania in France; Marzena Moskal, Film Project Manager at the Polish Institute; and Elena Baumeister, Cultural Affairs Officer at the Goethe-Institut.
Drawing on their professional backgrounds, the speakers discussed how cultural institutions promote European cinema, organise festivals and connect professionals across borders. They also explored how films reach new audiences and how emerging filmmakers can find opportunities beyond their home countries.
Students had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their own early experiences and ambitions with the guests. Curiosity, language learning, internships and involvement in collaborative projects emerged as practical ways to build connections and prepare for a career in the industry.
An International Outlook at the Heart of Film Education
For students in EICAR’s international programme, the event reflected an experience already central to their studies: learning alongside people from different cultures, sharing perspectives and collaborating across a variety of backgrounds and creative influences. It also helped them identify organisations and networks that could support their future projects.
By welcoming these professionals to its campus, EICAR strengthens its ties with foreign cultural institutions in France and its role as a meeting place for film education and the industry. These exchanges extend learning beyond the classroom, giving students direct access to the people who help films develop, travel and reach audiences around the world.
