Corinne Honliasso: A Key Figure in Art-House Cinema Meets EICAR’s International Students

As part of EICAR’s Guest Lecture Series, the school had the pleasure of welcoming Corinne Honliasso, Director and Programmer of the Parisian art-house cinema Le Balzac and a member of the General Assembly of the Académie des César, for a talk with international students. Drawing on a rich career at the crossroads of cinema exhibition, programming and institutional commitment, she shared her perspective on contemporary cinema and the role of independent theaters in today’s audiovisual landscape.
The Guest Lecture Series: learning from industry professionals
EICAR’s Guest Lecture Series continues throughout the year, welcoming professionals from all areas of the film and audiovisual industries. These encounters allow students to deepen their understanding of the sector, explore diverse career paths and gain insight into real-world practices.
Many guests honoured us with their presence at EICAR, including Devynne LAUCHNER, set decorator who worked in Hollywood on such projects as Euphoria, Grace and Frankie, and music videos by Pink and Bad Bunny.
Corinne Honliasso, a committed career in cinema exhibition and programming
A graduate of La Fémis (Exploitation-Distribution department) and holder of a Master’s degree in Film Studies from the University of Roehampton, Corinne Honliasso has built a career deeply rooted in art-house cinema. Since 2021, she has been Director and Programmer of Cinéma Le Balzac, one of Paris’ most emblematic independent theaters.
Alongside this role, she is actively involved in major film institutions: she is a member of the CNC commission for “Advance on receipts after completion”, sits on the Board and Executive Committee of the AFCAE (French Association of Art-House Cinemas). Her multifaceted experience offers students a concrete and inspiring vision of careers in cinema beyond directing and production.

Sharing professional insights with EICAR’s international students
